A Hujjat Regarding a Transaction of Guardianship

Issued before me:
Seyyid Mustafa Hayrullah bin Mehmed, a military distributor (of inheritance) of the Caliphate

The brother-in-law and legally appointed guardian of the minor children of the jeweler Zakar (son of Ohannes) of the Armenian people of the subjects of the Ottoman state who lived in the Mirahur neighborhood of Samatya district of the city of Istanbul before he passed away, Vegan and Ohannes, Pulcuoglu Bedros, (son of Kirkor) of the abovementioned people [Armenians], has expressed his intention in the şer’iyye court as the guardian and said:

“Those minors for whom I have guardianship are in pressing need of summer clothing and it is my request from the court to permit me as their guardian to purchase summer clothes for them with a certain amount of [their assets].”

Subsequently, on the advice of those whose names are given in the annex of the document, all his explanations and words were found in conformity with the facts and reality and the amount given below is to be spent. And the court permitted Bedros to spend five hundred quruş for each and one thousand in total for the purchase of summer clothes.

After what took place, upon request, it was written on the fourteenth of Jumada al-Ula, year 1289
